This is the adaptation of the award winning doujin novel that shocked Japan and sold over 130,000 copies within a month. It even outsold Haruki Murakami's long awaited novel, 'Killing Commendatore' domestically. While in the manga, it claims that it's just a work of fiction, the press release for the book by Fushosha, the publishing company, says (and I quote) "'Otto no Chinpo ga Hairanai' is a shocking true tale that tells the story of a woman's life". It's about her relationship with school, society, men and women. It's about a woman that struggles with the curse that's 'normalcy', her struggle with impotence, cheating, and all that in between. Comicalized by Gouto Yukiko (36-do, R-chuugakusei), a story of despair and hope, dedicated to all the people who have difficulty living, begins now.
From Anime News Network: Several thousands of years from now, there exists the Joker Galaxy of five Star Systems, where a long, long war is being fought. The god of light, Amaterasu, is trying to unite the galaxy under his rule. The fighting stands between giant mecha called Mortar Headds, their pilots, the Headdliners, trained since birth for their task, and the female humanlike computers called Fatimas, necessary for controlling the MH. Many are the lives and destinies found throughout the more than thousand year long era of war, although Amaterasu seems to live through it all. Note: To honor its 25th anniversary, the series was reprinted under Five Star Monogatari Reboot (The Five Star Stories Reboot) with a final and 13th volume.
Another work by Reiko Shimizu, or rather her newest. This series is a disturbing manga about solving murder cases by applying the newly developed method of viewing the memory of dead people's brains. And as in every manga done by this mangaka, weird supernatural forces are of course included. The first chapter is actually a prologue and is concentrated on the first case where this method was used. Chapter 2 is when the two main characters are introduced, so hang on! NOTE: There is a related anime with episodes based on selective chapters from the manga.

Volume 1 : The Laughing Vampire. While a young boy, just resurrected as a vampire, commits acts of awful ferocity, the city around him shows all its perversion. The adults abuse of their power, the boys degenerate and use all the available means to achieve their goal to give vent to their low instincts. Whoever can't understand and make opposition is doomed to change or becoming crazy. So which is the real horror? The vampire who kills in order to feed himself or the crawling disease hidden in the society that slowly corrupts without being noticed? Volume 2 : Paradise. Following the events narrated in the first volume, Luna and Konosuke are now living together with the old woman vampire as fellows, as lovers, in a diabolic innocence, killing to quench their thirst for blood, joining death and love under the dream of the eternal youth. Meanwhile a young boy, named Makoto, is looking for his lost sister Miko, who disappeared years ago under mysterious circumstances. But what has really happened to that girl who liked eating grubs and dreamed to become on of them? And is someone really hiding a terrible secret? The paths of all the characters will dramatically collide, bringing unexpected consequences after the things are gradually revealed. A story suspended between weirdness and decadence, showing a clear nostalgia for the German cinematography and Federico Fellini, where the blood is used to trace a great and only apparent amoral story.

Comics Underground Japan presents the wild, subversive world of Japan’s most accomplished underground comics artists. Some of the dozen artists included in this anthology will be familiar to followers of manga; others make their American debut in these pages. The richly imaginative stories in this volume show a great range of graphic style, from painstakingly detailed craftsmanship to exuberant, maniacal renderings. At the heart of each work in this anthology is a unique personal vision and a fierce artistic compulsion–these manga artists are the misfits of the art form, and they are its visionaries.
